Blog #9 "George Barich"
It's a difficult one.... I can see this case from both points of views, as bad and good. But i will go with the negative aspect of it. I don't agree with the council member just for the only reason that this can cause a huge controversy, which it all ready has! I think that having used the logo was a wrong idea. I mean come on there are many more things out there that can be fun or funky, but why necessary this black face? We need to be aware of what we use and where, maybe this guy have a good heart but he didn't see a consequence by doing this. I do see his point of view when he says he is not the only one doing this, actors and other people uses this for several reasons, movies, entertainment, etc., Although, just for the fact that this has to do with our present president Obama has maybe cause a double effect among the people that have seen it.

I think your missing the point that the picture was taken at a halloween party and was not intened to be racsist. Also the people who have called him a racsist are the ones who started this contreversy.
ReplyDeleteI hold the same idea as you have. For me, it’s hard to say he is racist or not; but it’s sure for me that, he is not a good example as he is a publicly man. I think he should think about the effects before he dose something. No matter what reason made him to put the black make up face picture, he should thought about what the others will say and think about it. He is not a person like anyone walk in the street, he is a person that his actions will affect the society at some level. He should be respect to his power and his people.
